Spotify can win without hitting US market

"Spotify and other European technology companies can be truly successful and powerful businesses without cracking the US. However, it is much harder to get the same level of traction with the same speed in Europe as it is in the US."

Spotify can succeed without the US as long as it is "truly pan-European", according to Brent Hoberman, partner at PRO Founders Capital and co-founder of Lastminute.com. However, Hoberman accepts "it is much harder to get the same level of traction with the same speed in Europe as it is in the US."
Spotify was recently forced to confirm plans to launch in the US by the end of the year, after rumours it had made little progress in negotiations with major music labels.
While Ek has taken residence in New York to bring the company's label negotiations to a close, one source says Spotify has approached Founders Fund managing partner Sean Parker to lead the company's U.S. operations, but that's not been confirmed.
